Greeting

The Japan Convention Management Association (JCMA) was established on April 1, 2015 as the largest convention association in Japan and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025.

As of June 2024, the association has over 260 members, drawing together a wide range of business operators and public organizations from the convention industry, which facilitates greater coordination in determining the direction of the industry. The JCMA will seek to strengthen this business ¬in Japan, establishing it as a strong and dynamic industry.

In order to contribute to fostering the necessary human resources and strengthening Japan’s international competitiveness in MICE, JCMA will focus on enhancing the specialization of business operators, as well as working with educational institutions to discover and train the next generation of convention personnel.

Attracting MICE events is an important measure in line with the government-led promotion of Japan as a tourism-oriented nation, and holding such events is expected to create a strong economic ripple effect. In addition, through its various effects in relation to the host organizations, participants and communities, MICE is expected to enhance the nation’s industrial capabilities and the presence of its cities. Consequently, the importance of MICE will increase and become widely recognized globally.
Now, as the world has pulled through the COVID-19 pandemic, there are high expectations for MICE to become a force for accelerating a paradigm change and play a significant role as a foundation for economic activities in society.

JCMA intends to continuously review trends as the post-COVID society evolves, governmental policies and insights from various concerned businesses, and strive diligently as an engine to progress forward activities to establish new forms of MICE.

Furthermore, under our motto “Gather People, Create a New World”, JCMA will link to the world through face-to-face exchanges. JCMA members will work together to raise our performance in delivering globally important conventions, aiming to make Japan a center for global activities as a specialist organization providing new value and appealing experiences.
